As I have aged, I seem to have a problem remembering what wonderful toys I already own. I have been looking for something that I record all of my toys in, but yet would be small enough that I could take it with me. I decided to create a 3 ring binder. I used an 8inch chipboard binder from Pine Cone Press. Actually this was left over from a class that I took a few years ago. Never got around to creating the project. I painted the edges of the album with Adirondack Acrylic Paint Daubers Sandal. After the paint dried (which doesn't take that long) I coverd the paper with Coredinations cardstock, choosing the orange and light green from the REtro Mod Squad collection. These two colors were almost an exact match for the Fiskateers colors. I used Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue. I have to say that of all of the wet glues I have tried for scrapbooking this is my all time favorite. I love that it comes with both a point for detailed work and a bigger brush on the opposite end. Since I am trying to also use up my stash before purchasing anything new, I just used a cheap piece of black cardstock, not sure but I think that I purchased it from Walmart awhile back. I used my Cricut Expression to cut out the letters with Plantin Schoolbook. When I cut out smaller sized letters, I loved to use my Xyron X sticker maker to put adhesive on the back of the letters so that they can be attached with out to much of a mess. I used the Fiskars Corner Rouder squeeze punch to round the corners of my papers so that they match the corners on the chipboard album. I must say that the squeeze punches from Fiskars are probably the easiest punches I have ever used.
Once again because I am trying to use up my stash, I choose a piece of green patterned paper that I already had in my collection. Not really sure of the brand for this one. As you can see I didn't have quite a large enough sheet to cut out two pieces, so I ended up piecing the back page together.
For my inventory pages, I am creating documents on my computer using Microsoft word. Each page will stand for a different product. I have decided at this point to list all of the items available in that line and then highlight the ones that I have. I know that I will need to update my lists every so often , but at this time, feel that it is better than a handwritten list. Plus this way, I can put a pencil mark next to items that I really would like to get, making it easier for my husband and children to purchase a gift for me, without having to ask what I already have, or what I would like. (DH if you are reading this, the hint is for you). I have many more pages to complete with this project, but only limited time, so I am trying to add a page or two every week. Since I am on a no buy kick, I am hoping to have all of my lists created before I let myself purchase new supplies.
I will probably eventually add dividers as I get more pages created. I am hoping that this size works well for me, I don't think that it is too large that I don't want to carry it, nor do I feel that it is so small that I can misplace it.
I have plans to finish the outside of the album yet. I am thinking about putting Inventory down the spine of the album and would also like to add some embellishments to the front. I played with a few things while making it, and nothing seemed to work. If you have any suggestions feel free to leave me a comment.

Great idea. I've been working on coming up with something to keep track of my own purchases. I hate buying duplicates. lol
this is such a good idea!!! at least this way people who don't understand much about crafting will be able to get you stuff you want/need instead of being stumped when they get to the crafting section! :)
I love this idea especially that it makes it easier for the family to buy gifts as my family always struggle and I end up buying my own most times.
Cheers

love your idea, i am in the process of making something similar, mine is smaller though ...will try and get some pics up of what i have done so far and put them up in the gallery...thanks for your ideas
Such a useful and fun project, Colleen. I love that you used a 3 ring binder, so you can update it endlessly.

Love this idea. I made one similar, but for recipes that I've found in magazines
Now that is a great idea - I just love when craft can be joined to my love of working and tweaking on the computer...
I love the binder idea!
Love it! I have to keep organized myself!

what a great project-very clever!!
Your project is such a fun idea, thanks for sharing.
GREAT PROJECT,COLLEN.
Colleen - I didn't know you had a blog! I became a follower. Thanks for being part of the blog hop!
Did you say that you were enclosing your computer generated lists in plastic sleeves? That is what I have done with my binders for my Spellbinders that I have begun and other items to keep track of like Sizzix, etc. That way they will last longer and you can change them out when necessary. I got mine really cheap at Staples that were sturdy.
What a great idea for inventory...I've started making one too, but am punching a sample for the punches and die-cuts (I don't always remember what the name is). It's a lot of work, but will be worth it in the end, especially if you get your "wishes" granted!
Great Idea! I did something similar this year but your big lists are smarter than writing down what I have.

Wonderful idea! I keep a list of punches and Cricut cartridges in my purse-calender. Donna 6036
What a cool idea! That's a great way to keep track of what you own and what you *need*, LOL! Thanks for showing us your great project!
Love your binder! Would you be willing to share your lists? I just became a follower and Fiskars scissors are the best!
Great to meet you, Collen! I'm following you and I've subscribed to your RSS feed and look forward to getting to know you. I am also on a "no buy" kick and I love the idea of creating an inventory. It will help me appreciate all I have.

Wow interesting;-) can't wait to try it.

What a brilliant idea-I need to get to work on this.
What a nice notebook! Handy and very useful as well. To keep from accidentally boying an item twice, a friend of mine just altered a composition book to make lists of thngs she owns. Since she is a new papercrafter, it was a good time to start. I like the notebook idea better, because when the pages start getting old and tired, you can swap them it for a new piece.
Great Job, Colleen
good idea i can always use another binder . lol TFS xoxo
I could never run out of a new binder!!! love it
very good idea. I lend my tools fairly often while at crops, so I've thought of something like this.
I'd say on the spine you could do "Play Toys" or just "Toys" or "My Toys". "Inventory" is boring. :)
gotta love being organized!
Your project is simple but so very needed. Thanks for the ideas. I've become a follower.
Fab idea!!

Holy guacamole! That is SO smart and SO organized. I have something like that for stamps I own but NOTHING as detailed as your book. LOVE it(and of course I love the orange and green, too)! Thanks for sharing and thanks for always been such an active and positive Fiskateer friend. Hugs!

Great idea Colleen, I made something similar for my Cricut Cartridges and their images. It too, needs to be updated every now and then. But adding to the list and then printing it out is easy! Thanks for sharing.
Jessica #5319
Wow great idea. I tend to do everything in excel. I should do that for my stamps. I have lots of those.
Ashani #4682

What a fabulous idea! I love how you decorated the binder. I am going to have to make one, too. I have many supply lists floating around here. Thanks for sharing.

cool idea putting the list of tools in your ring binder and decorating it.
Great work.
Collen - What a great idea! I need to create one of these for sure. It can also help you keep track of what you brought to a crop. Thanks for sharing your talent with all of us.
What a great idea for an inventory. I know that I have so many tools that I cant remember what I have either and have made some lists so I dont buy duplicate things. I am now a blog follower. Who couldnt use another pair of scissors!!!
I need your organization! I've started so many lists of things I have, but the binder is totally what I'm going to make up for my lists! thanks for sharing!

Hopping & Stalking from New Zealand...fab idea, must take notes for anything lately, my mind is like jelly. look at all the fiskateers here hopping away, good luck to all for the RAK & awesome of you to share the love
Great idea! I like the idea of penciling the items you would like to purchase and then kind of show it to your family!!
sandy 4165
What a great idea. My daughter for one would love if I did this. She's always "snooping" in my room to find what I have (or don't) but as she's not a papercrafter she's told me that I have too much stuff and she has too little time to snoop. LOL.
Kim 5612
Awesome idea! Now if I could only get that organized??!!
The binder is a good idea. Thanks
I didn't know you had a blog Colleen - Great job repurposing!
Great idea, I love that your family will know exactly what you want without having to ask you so it would be a surprise, great thinking.

You sound so organized!!!
Neat idea, especially for all my punches and dies! Maybe someday I can be this organized. :)
Veronica #1135
What a wonderful idea! This would prevent me from my habit of frequent returns because I love something so much I buy it twice! LOL
Katherine #6847
Boy am I familiar with that "forgetting what I have" thing, lol! Great idea!
Fisk-a-fabulous project Colleen!!!
I love that you have your wishlist included as well and think I might scraplift this idea as it is so easy to get mixed up when you start thinking what sizes or shapes you have versus the ones you want to get - thank you :)
No RAK for me - just wanted to drop by to see your project and share the Fisk-a-love!
... will be back soon to look back through your blog.
Mary #5509, love your inventory idea, wish I was organized enough to carry it through! I would probably get the binder made and never finish the inventory process. :) Fun blog hop!

What a great idea, I've been thinking about doing the same thing myself,
thanks for sharing and the change to win.
What a fabulous idea. I think I am going to try this myself! Thanks for the inspiration and a chance to win.
Great idea to put all the items instead of just the ones you have. I never would have thought of that but it seems it would make shopping much easier.
Thanks for sharing

very cute!! and organized!
cool idea...it's nice to know i'm not the only one who has purchased something more than once
Nice and organized. Good job.
The binder idea is great so you can update and add as needed! How about a brown ribbon on the front where the two colors meet, something wide perhaps? At any rate it is fantastic!
This is such a neat idea Colleen and so organized. Thanks for the chance at your RAK, I just became a follower
