Bits and Pieces Guest Designer.
Last November or December (I don't remember which) there was a post on Fiskateers asking for people who would be interested in becoming a Bits and Pieces designer. I decided to try this thinking it would be fun. Groovy Deb sends the guest designer a package of her left overs. Your challenge is to create either scrapbook pages, cards, tags, etc with her scraps. You are allowed to use white card stock and then any stamps, paints, dyes, etc that you want. When the package arrived I was really excited until I opened it. The one color that I don't really use is Pink, so it took me awhile to figure out what I was going to do with the pink. I will say that once I got started it was easier than I thought. There were a few snags with getting this project done, The day that I was planning on scrapping, I came down with the flu and didn't get anything else done. I ended up getting my layouts done a week or so later. The first picture is one that I created for a class I am taking Scrapbook*Life*Journal. The second page is a picture of my daughters at the nursing home that their grandfather lives in. My oldest daughter dances for a tap team that travels to nursing homes, hospitals, family reunions etc and puts on about 1 1/2 hour show. The nursing home that Grandpa lives in, is one of the places they always visit. Grandpa has to make sure that he is seated right in the front row for this show. The pink worked perfectly for this as the costume for this past year was pink. The next page is for my younger daughter and her "boyfriend". Of course I am not sure how serious 12 year old's can be about relationships. The two attend the same church so they see each other on Sunday's and for confirmation classes. They are also both involved in 4-H(but different clubs) so they see each other at county wide activities. They do live about 25 miles apart so do not attend the same school.
The final layout that I created probably should have been done a few years ago, but the pink was perfect for that also. It is of Kristen and a few of her friends from a week at church camp several years ago. The problem with waiting so long, is that neither of us remember who the girls are.
Over all this was a fun challenge that pushed me out of my comfort zone a bit. For that I need to thank Groovy Deb. I will now consider using pink more often and also ribbon. Thanks Deb for the challenge.

Secret Project
For the past few weeks, I have had a secret project going on. I was trying to make cheerleader outfits for build a bear sized stuffed animals that matched the varsity cheer uniforms. This was slightly difficult as I have never sewn without a pattern before. So first I had to try and copy the outfit that Kristen had for her bear and then tweak it to make it look like the Clinton High Varsity Uniforms. After getting a dummy outfit made up, I borrowed Sarah's bear (without her knowledge to take a picture and send to the cheer coach.
After getting the okay from the coach I tweaked the pattern once again and then began to make 5 outfits. One for each of the senior girls. This started to become a bit difficult to make them up when Sarah wasn't home, so she ended up knowing ahead of time. I finally finished the outfits and sent them off with Kurt to the cheer coach.
You will notice that I added the CHS with my embroidery machine and that I also made pom poms to match the ones the girls use.
Last night was senior night. The girls were introduced along with their parents and then after that the juniors gave them their gifts. I was hoping to watch them open their gifts, but they took their bags back to the old stage area (The cheerleaders practice area). Shortly after all 5 came back out carrying their bears. They were so excited to get them and thought that this was a really neat gift.
I was really pleased to see that the girls like their bears and more important that Sarah has a neat bear to remember her senior year of year with.

January Sketch Challenge
It has been several months since I have been able to work with the sketches on Shannon's Blog. Life has just been way to busy and complicated this year. Never realized that a child's senior year would be so busy. So excited to be able to work with the sketches again as I really like her designs. They are easy enough to follow and yet leave room for creativity.
I choose to use a few pictures of Sarah dancing at WestWing Nursing home this summer. She has been a member of the Tap team Design for the past 3 years. This team spends the summer traveling on Thursdays and Saturdays to different nursing homes in the area. Of course the favorite place to dance at is WestWing in DeWitt because Grandpa is a resident there. This year their leader sent the rest of the members back to change but kept out 2 to interview. Sarah was one of the ones that he interviewed. The first question he asked her was where her favorite place to dance at is, of course she answered WestWing and then when he asked her why she told all of the residents that it was because her Grandpa was a resident there. Everyone enjoyed that story. The bottom picture of the layout shows both girls with Grandpa. I think he really enjoyed the attention also.
While the sketch was easy enough to follow I had a hard time with the papers and colors. I don't normally use pink to scrap with.

Scrapbook*Life*Journal 2012
A couple of weeks ago I saw an interesting article on a blog that I frequent. This post was about a new class for 2012. It would be a 12 month class, with different assignments for each week. It was to also include some doodling that I could color and a calendar for each month, plus instead of a word for the year, there is one word for the month. I jumped on this class so quick. I was really surprised because I have only done one other online class and that was a few years ago. This one just seemed different and drew me in. I already have most of the prep work done. I still have to complete my title pages for each month, but I might do that as each month comes up. I also still have most of the cover to do, I have picked a background paper that I like and will work on building the cover as the year goes on. Yesterday I was able to get the January Doodle page done and also the January Calendar page.

December Daily
This year I decided to try the December Daily album that many are talking about. I was hoping that with the digital scrapbooking program I would be able to keep it up better. While I didn't finish the album (I have a way too boring life) I did manage to get many pages done.

Twisted Tuesdays
I am hoping to start a new weekly post for you. I will be calling Twisted Tuesdays simply because my oldest daughter suggested this title and I can't think of anything I like better. Feel free to send me suggestions if you can think of something.
I have to say that the more I play with the MY Memories Suite software the more I am in love. I think that I am going to try and complete Ali's December Daily and the Journal Your Christmas project this year digitally. This will be the first time that I will create a digital book. I am thinking that this will actually help me stay on track and finish the book on time. I will not have to worry about waiting until pictures are developed. In the meantime I want to become more familiar with the software and the new version. To do this, I am going to be posting a bit more on this site.
Today's post is a quick page that I created for Sarah's senior year of cheer.
Now here is the really cool part of this email a freebie. This package will work with not only My Memories Suite software but also other programs that you may be using. Feel free to click on this link and grab this weeks freebie:
